Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, GB pilots smart bins that reduce waste management costs

Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, GB Smart Bin Pilot

In Progress

Two Mr. Fill bins are being evaluated near Hollingworth Lake. Each bin contains sensors that evaluate waste levels in real time. An onboard compactor creates up to 70% more capacity until the bin is full. The bin door automatically locks at capacity and a message is sent to the council's waste management team for collection. Mr. Fill bins are powered entirely by solar energy. This pilot will determine impacts on park cleanliness and personnel needs prior to expanded use.
