Torino [Turin], PIE Ecoisole Pilot Public Access Waste

In Progress

Local officials installed 72 eco-islands - or ecoisole - in the San Salvario neighborhood. Each ecoisole features smart bins accessible by electronic cards for glass and metal, plastic, food waste, and trash. Waste contractor Amiat issued two cards for each household along with bins, bags, and program literature in three languages during a door-to-door engagement program. A one-month acclimation period offered cardless access to the bins.
