Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council launched the new "Ring and Read" service to allow residents to safely borrow books from local libraries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents can submit an online form or call a local library to choose which genres they would like to read. The library then makes a selection of books based on the indicated preferences and arranges a time for the resident to collect them or receive a direct delivery.
