Arun District Council, GB evaluates food waste and hygiene product recycling in pilot program

Arun District Council, GB Food Waste Recycling Pilot

Planning

The one-year pilot will offer weekly collections of food waste from 1,150 households. Participants can opt into a free weekly collection of absorbant hygiene products like diapers. Food waste converts into fertilizer and biogas using an anaerobic digester. Hygiene products are processed for component plastics and fibers. Arun District Council will select flats, houses, and other residential properties to evaluate different disposal behaviors.
