The council's digital services team consulted with Microserve to audit their existing website. This review led to updates that met Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 standards. Bracknell Forest's web portal is now compatible with screen readers and speech recognition technology. Website visitors can modify font sizes and zoom up to 300% on any page. Microserve also helped the council improve self-service options through its website.

Like many local authorities across the UK, Bracknell Forest Council wanted to adopt a digital-first approach to customer service, putting the power in the hands of its users to self-serve via the website where possible. Their existing website did not have the flexibility or the functionality to support these ambitions, and with Drupal being used effectively by many other local authorities and governments agencies, it was Bracknell's first choice of technology. After initially employing an in-house Drupal Developer, Bracknell Forest Council instructed Microserve via the public sector procurement system G-Cloud, to undertake a full audit of their work completed to date.
Project Succeeded
A benchmark test of the old and new websites found the updated portal reduced user journeys to their desired pages by up to 60%.
