Coquitlam, BC expands child care capacity through new development rules and funding sources

Coquitlam, BC Child Care Capacity Development Funding

Complete

City officials defined how local governments can increase child care capacity in its Child Care Partnership Strategy. The Child Care Incentive Policy excludes space for child care services from calculations of maximum building sizes. Developer contributions to the Child Care Partnership Reserve Fund will fund new approaches to child care provision. Additional policies including provider-friendly parks and a child care lens on city decisions follow incentive implementation in 2023.
