East Lansing, MI Prairie Robotics Recycling Collection
East Lansing worked with The Recycling Partnership and the state's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to organize the six-month trial. Prairie Robotics installed cameras for views of each vehicle's hopper and nearby streets. A machine-learning platform evaluates video footage for non-recyclable items at each collection address. The Public Works team sends postcards to encourage compliant households and suggest proper recycling techniques to non-compliant households.
