Eastbourne Borough Council, GB evaluates active forest management impacts on low-carbon housing
Eastbourne Borough Council, GB Active Forest Management
In Progress
The borough received a £200,000 grant from the Forestry Commission for the 16-month pilot. Project partners University of Brighton and Woodland Enterprise Centre will identify innovative methods for actively managing regional woodlands. Passive management of 41% of forests in the United Kingdom led to record lumber imports in 2021 and prohibitively expensive local lumber. Eastbourne hopes for reliable and sustainable sources of lumber for new housing developments.
