Inner West, NSW expands food waste collection project across all apartment buildings
Inner West, NSW Apartment Food Waste Collection Project
Council leaders extended the collection of food waste to renters in the former Ashfield, Leichhardt, and Marrickville areas that merged into Inner West. Every participant receives a dedicated bin, compostable bags, and training on how to separate organics from landfill waste. Renters in Inner West also participate in the council-backed Compost Collective for multi-unit buildings. Food waste collection and composting reduce the 35% of bin waste created by food preparation.
