Kent County Council, GB puts local food waste to good use with biogas generation facility
Kent County Council, GB Biogas Generation Food Waste
Complete
The Blaise Farm Quarry houses an anaerobic digester that processes all of the county's food waste. This process turns waste into biogas energy that powers the plant with excess energy sent to the grid. Food waste is also turned into fertilizer for local farms and parks. Kent County Council estimates 45,000 tons of waste will be converted into 5.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
