North Kesteven District Council, GB pursues CO2-Sy Homes Standard for sustainable council housing
North Kesteven District Council, GB CO2-Sy Homes Standard
The council approved a zero-carbon housing standard in 2021 for all new council homes. Ten new properties at two locations achieved the Passivhaus standard for high energy efficiency. Each CO2-Sy home requires 75% less energy for heating thanks to solar panels and efficient ventilation systems. Council officials included small green spaces and insect habitats at each site. An additional 600 council homes will be retrofitted with similar features by 2030.
