Sacramento, CA Clean and Safe Pilot Program Homeless Employ
In Progress
The Clean and Safe Pilot Program supports homeless residents as they search for permanent housing and employment. Six residents of area shelters were selected for the pilot's initial cohort. The Clean and Safe team removes debris from streets, parks, and waterfront areas. Each member receives up to $18 per hour for part-time or full-time work five days per week. The city, the River District, and 29th Street Capital also offer paid time off and vacation time for workers.
Project Succeeded
Clean and Safe workers cleared 150 tons of litter from public spaces in the pilot's first nine months. Three program participants located long-term housing during the same period.
