Sheffield City Council, GB street light dimming trial
Sheffield City Council used its improved LED street lighting system to conduct a street light dimming trial across three local districts. The trial involved reducing the lighting levels of street lights from 84% to 80% before midnight and from 54% to 40% from midnight until 6am. Emergency services were able to request increases in the lighting levels. The project was designed to reduce the carbon emissions, electricity costs, and light pollution associated with the previous lighting levels.
