The council gathers old bins from households and delivers them to the Adelaide-based manufacturer. MASTEC grinds and melts these bins as part of the production process for new containers. Each new curbside bin consists of at least 30% material from recycled containers. New bins are equipped with electronic tags tied to specific addresses in case of theft or damage. Tea Tree Gully also provides kitchen caddies entirely made from recycled bins.
