Tucson, AZ expands public access to reliable Internet with its Community Wireless Program

Tucson, AZ Community Wireless Program Reliable Internet

In Progress

The city accepted requests for free wireless routers during a two-week application process. Eligible residents are aged 18 and older, live in participating areas, and reside with a school-aged child, senior, or family member at risk from COVID-19. Tucson selected neighborhoods for the one-year pilot based on existing public Wi-Fi coverage accessible by the routers. The Community Wireless Program will be expanded in three phases to fill gaps in Internet connectivity.
