Waipa District Council launched "Te Ara Wai Journeys" a self-guided tour of culturally significant sites in the region to enhance the tourist experience and boost the local economy. Residents and visitors listen to 169 stories, told by various experts and writers in multiple languages, while navigating pathways through natural landscapes, battle sites, and early settlements. The stories are accessible by scanning QR codes on signage and brochures which direct participants to a mobile website.
