Wellington Regional Council created a series of "Dark Sky" events to highlight the importance of protecting the night skies from light pollution and celebrating biodiversity. The Council partnered with the Wellington Astronomical Society to host the "Dark Sky" event activities which included star gazing, night-time photography, and astronomy lessons. The event series was designed to educate the community on conservation topics, encourage sustainability, and reduce the use of artificial light.
