The Jerez City Council is planning to implement a biometric signature system to improve the efficiency of document management. The biometric signature system is being developed and installed through a partnership with Serva to allow users to digitize the biometric data of their signature including writing speed, pressure, and strokes for instant and secure identification.

York County, VA Sheriff's Office deployed state's first mobile biometrics fingerprint reader

The York County Sheriff's Office deployed "Iris ID" the first mobile fingerprint reader in the state of Virginia. The Iris ID's contactless biometrics system enables real-time identification of suspects who are reluctant to reveal their identities which provides officers with critical information to improve their situational awareness.

New York, NY passed a biometrics privacy ordinance to prevent potentially discriminatory practices

New York City has passed a new biometrics privacy ordinance that limits what private businesses can do with the biometric data collected from customers. The ordinance also requires businesses to post signs explaining to customers how their data will be collected. Businesses are also banned from selling, sharing, or profiting directly from the biometric data that they collect. The ordinance was designed to discourage businesses from using potentially discriminatory technology.
