Vincent, WA partners with Cerclos to drive low carbon designs of low to medium scale dwellings

Cerclos, a global life cycle assessment software provider, collaborated with the City of Vincent to develop a net zero home app, RapidLCA, for fast, intuitive and affordable life cycle assessment of low to medium density housing. The outcomes of this trial exceeded expectations and incurred no direct financial cost to the City. The City integrated RapidLCA into the development assessment process for applicants to demonstrate compliance with environmental performance

Alameda, CA tests the impacts of guaranteed income payments with its Rise Up Alameda pilot

Rise Up Alameda issues $1,000 monthly payments to 150 randomly selected applicants for two years. Eligible residents are aged 18 or older and earn up to 50% of the city's Area Median Income. The application process was made accessible with a multi-lingual online application and three drop-in hubs. There are no restrictions on how the monthly payments are spent. City officials allocated $4.6 million in federal ARPA funding to fund the pilot with project partner Operation Dignity.

The City of Edinburgh Council, GB seeks ideas on public finances with Delib's Budget Simulator

Edinburgh needed to reduce its budget by £67 million over three years without reducing service levels. City officials also wanted suggestions from a more representative sample than in previous engagement campaigns. Budget Simulator's simple interface ensured any resident could recommend budget increases or decreases without extensive training. Budget Simulator required every budget proposal to achieve necessary savings before delivery to city officials.

Miramar, FL is using real-time data to sustainably generate project funding by saving water/energy

The city of Miramar entered into a tax-exempt leasing purchase agreement with Banc of America Leasing and Capital LLC to improve the city's environmental resilience and decrease its carbon footprint. The project involved implementing water and energy saving initiatives and providing major buildings with real-time data on energy consumption and better control of temperatures and airflow. The project is 100% funded from the savings derived from implementing these initiatives.

Bridgend County Borough Council, GB created litter picking hubs to help volunteers tidy up

Bridgend County Borough Council created littler picking hubs as a base of operations for volunteers interested in tidying up their community. Each of the hubs contain equipment including litter picking tools, hoops, high-visibility vests, and trash bags along with health and safety guides. Volunteers can record their locations and the amount of litter collected online to showcase the overall progress. So far, the Council has opened four litter picking hubs and plans to create six more.

Austin, TX is using violet-colored trash bags to encourage homeless to collect and dispose of litter

The City of Austin launched a pilot program to reduce the amount of trash and litter build-up in certain parts of the city. Homeless residents are given violet trash bags and encouraged to use the bags to collect garbage and drop them off at designated locations.
