Albemarle County, VA turns broadband speed tests into an interactive map of local connectivity
The Albemarle County Broadband Authority deployed an Internet speed test for local residents. This test measures a user's current upload and download speeds. A follow-up survey asks for the respondent's Internet provider, desired speed, and most common use of connectivity. The bilingual survey was also available by phone for households without broadband access. County officials turn survey responses into a map of areas with limited or no connectivity to inform broadband expansion.
