Arlington County, VA partners with eleven-x on smart parking for Arlington commercial district

A network of 5,000 SPS-X sensors from eleven-x will be placed throughout the district by the summer of 2023. Real-time vacancy data will be sent to digital signage and a mobile app so that commuters can find parking spots. The sensors also connect to the eXactpark platform for analysis of parking duration, hotspots, and future demand. An engagement campaign and an initial installation at the Courthouse Plaza parking lot will educate the public about this technology.

Arlington County, VA launches a 911 telehealth pilot program to reduce emergency room visits

Arlington County is launching a telehealth pilot program to reduce the patient load for ambulance crews and local hospitals while expanding access to healthcare services. Paramedics will still respond to 911 calls but during less serious emergencies they will offer patients the option to skip the trip to the emergency room. Instead these patients would be immediately connected with a doctor, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner via an iPad.

Arlington County, VA eases parking concerns near rail stops with Performance Parking Pilot

Arlington County will design a spot-sensing system that captures data on parking vacancies near Metrorail stations. This system will adjust parking rates downward for lightly used spots and upward in the busiest areas. Parking rate changes occur over matters of weeks or months rather than the real-time surge pricing model. Performance Parking Pilot thins out traffic caused by vehicles circling blocks and increases parking turnover in high-traffic areas.
