Ashburton District Council, NZ collects drone imagery of monuments and statues for maintenance

Council officials deployed drones in order to accurately evaluate the conditions of 30 memorial markers. Drone footage provided 360-degree views of lichen, moss, and bird waste coverage of every statue and monument. High-definition images also revealed hairline fractures and other damage requiring repair by specialists. This project reduced the personnel time required for inspections while assembling baseline images for future maintenance.
