The Green Development Standards (GDS) require new development permits to hit targets in five areas: Building Materials, Complete Communities, Ecology, Energy, and Water. Each applicant must meet all Tier 1 targets and some Tier 2 targets for approval. Examples of Tier 1 targets include EV charging infrastructure, permeable sidewalks, and native topsoil reuse. Aurora created a GDS guide and a scoring system in its online application system to assist applicants.

The Town of Aurora introduced Occasional Use on Street Parking Permits (OUPP) after switching to GTECHNA a new vendor for parking tickets. The OUPP were designed for residents who require an extra parking space for overnight visitors or just require an extra temporary space. Residents can apply online for up to 12 free parking passes per vehicle each year through GTECHNA's web portal. The OUPP are issued electronically, automatically attached to the license plate, and valid for 24 hours.

The Town of Aurora launched an electronic billing option for residential and commercial customers receiving water and wastewater bills. Residents and businesses can apply for the environmentally-friendly e-billing option by submitting a registration form online. Participants will receive their quarterly water and wastewater invoice via email three weeks before the due date. Participants can switch back to the paper-based option at any time by simply sending an email request.
