Bayside, NSW responds to anti-social behavior in Botany Bay with smart camera system pilot

Bayside started the pilot with a test of smart cameras on a parking enforcement vehicle. Cameras with License Plate Recognition (LPR) software were then installed along Ida Street and Vanston Parade. LPR images led to increased ticketing of reckless drivers who created dangerous driving conditions near Botany Bay. The Brighton-Le-Sands phase of this Australian-first pilot deployed cameras capable of capturing footage of vandalism and dangerous use of personal watercraft in the bay.
