Belfast City Council, GB Smart City Pilot Foot Traffic Data
The two-week Amazing Spaces, Smart Places pilot placed sensors in the Botanic Gardens, City Cemetary, and Girdwood Hub. Each sensor gathered anonymized data from Wi-Fi use to determine pedestrian traffic through each area. Belfast City Cemetary also housed an AI-enabled detection system that alerted city staffers about location-specific activity. City officials allowed five companies including Civica to demonstrate their technology's potential to advance the Smart Belfast plan.
