The city of Benicia launched a digital solar permitting process with the creation of the SolarAPP+ automated online application. The city partnered with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to receive feedback from the solar installer community while integrating the SolarAPP+ into the city's OpenGov platform. The SolarAPP+ option lowers costs and expedites solar installations encouraging property owners to invest in generating renewable and sustainable energy.
