Bexar County launched a fleet electrification pilot program to reduce carbon emissions. The pilot program started with county commissioners agreeing to purchase 16 electric sedans and pickup trucks for up to $700,000 in the 2023 budget. The county's plan is to spent at least a year studying the operating costs and logistics before committing to a larger purchase possibly moving toward converting a non-emergency pool of vehicles or perhaps even the entire 1,200 vehicle fleet.
