Bonn, NW JOBWÄRTS program engages local businesses for sustainable employee commutes
The program addresses traffic congestion and emissions created by workers' daily commutes. Project managers develop customized mobility plans based on employee commuting patterns and employee surveys. Each plan combines public transit, cycling, scooters, and remote work to reduce time spent on local roads. JOBWÄRTS also offers free weekly tests of e-scooters, e-bikes, and folding bikes for up to five workplaces at a time.

Bonn, NW mandates solar installations on all new construction projects in bid for climate neutrality
The first-in-state requirement applies to new buildings, city land sales, and urban development projects. This policy exempts property owners who can demonstrate that installations are not economically feasible. Bonn officials also created a subsidy program for homeowners and businesses interested in adding rooftop solar installations to existing buildings. This subsidy covers 200 euros per 10 kilowatts peak with a 600-euro maximum per project.

Bonn, NW shifts toward zero-emission wastewater treatment with solar installations
Bonn invested in rooftop and ground-level installations for three of its four wastewater treatment plants. These solar installations produce 219,000 kilowatt-hours per year ranging from 8,000 kWh at Duisdorf to 150,000 kWh at Salierweg. Replacing existing energy sources with solar power reduces Bonn's carbon emissions by 129 tons per year. Municipal officials are planning a solar installation at the Beuel plant to complete the project.
