The six-month academy was designed to counter educational and career disruptions caused by COVID-19. Eligible participants were aged 16 to 24 and identified as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color. Students completed six weeks of skill-building workshops with $500 incentives for attending 80% of sessions. Participants selected from paid internship, certification, or high school equivalency diploma tracks. Boulder County used federal ARPA funds to recruit partners and pay $6,000 stipends.

Boulder County, CO deploys Pano AI solution for early detection of future wildfires

The Boulder County Sheriff's Office installed Pano AI systems at Eldora Mountain, Lee Hill, and Thorodin Mountain. Each system gathers 360-degree footage from a 10-mile radius for AI analysis. Pano AI's platform uses panoramic views, satellite images, and past wildfire data for the early identification of wildfires. Automated alerts from Pano AI provide firefighters with the lead time necessary to suppress wildfires before they spread.

Boulder County, CO and Flagstaff spur climate change innovations with 4 Corners Carbon Coalition

The founding governments approved funding for regional innovation challenges and business development related to climate change. Boulder County and Flagstaff were joined by Salt Lake City and Santa Fe prior to the coalition's first challenge. This initial challenge sought new ideas for reducing carbon emissions during the production, use, and reuse of concrete. Winning projects will receive catalytic grants for real-world applications of recycled concrete and low-emission manufacturing.

Boulder County launched a new pilot program designed to reduce pollution from food and beverage packaging. The program promotes the design and manufacturing of reusable, recycled, recyclable, bio-based, and compostable packaging. Participating local food and beverage manufacturers will receive up to $10,000 in financial support for costs associated with transitioning to sustainable packaging. The program will also offer workshops that connect businesses with packaging experts.

Residents of Lafayette and the Kestrel housing area of Louisville use this service for free on-demand rides. Commuters can arrange for pickups and drop-offs within the service area by phone, website, or the On Demand Transit app. Interested riders can also hail the shuttle on the street with the driver handling the reservation by onboard tablet. Ride Free Lafayette operates seven days a week from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Boulder County and Colorado CarShare stationed a shareable electric vehicle at the Kestrel housing community. The program offers discounted memberships and driving credits for community residents.
