Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council, GB turns vegetable oil waste into renewable fleet fuel

Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council, GB Waste Fuel

In Progress

The council will fuel two waste trucks with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) supplied by Crown Oil. This process turns used cooking oil into a renewable fuel that can replace diesel without vehicle modifications. A one-year pilot will evaluate cost and performance impacts for potential expansion to other fleet vehicles. Council officials estimate a 90% reduction in carbon emissions from HVO use compared to diesel along with lower fuel costs.
