Broadland District Council launched a new digital engagement service to help residents who fall into arrears with their Council Tax payments. The service prevents statutory recovery documents from being issued by sending residents a text, email, or voice message reminder beforehand. Every Council Tax payer with a mobile number or email address on file with the Council was automatically enrolled in the service.

The Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils launched a "Please to see you" campaign to help local businesses recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. The councils have sent COVID Support Advisors to provide local businesses with decorations, posters, stickers, and COVID safety signage to display on doors and windows. The councils also offered business owners a chance to obtain a COVID Safe Certification, after being validated by an Environmental Health team, to boost customer confidence.

Broadland District Council, GB launched a weekly community lottery to fund local organisations
Broadland District Council launched the Community at Heart lottery to provide local organisations a new and fun way to receive funding. The weekly lottery allocates over 50% of its ticket sales to a community funding pot and nominated organisations. Each ticket costs £1 and participants are able to nominate the local organisation of their choice. The weekly draw includes a jackpot of £25,000 for a matching sequence of six numbers. Other prizes include £2,000, £250, £25 or three free tickets.

Broadland District Council, alongside local councils, launched the Solar Together Norfolk scheme to help residents and small businesses generate their own energy. The councils partnered with bulk buying specialist iChoosr to develop this solar panel group-buying scheme. Group-buying solar panels allows for significant discounts toward installation costs that are determined based on the total number of participants. Participants are not obligated to go forward with the installation.

Broadland District Council developed an innovative method for reaching the public by rebranding three of its bin lorries with critical information during the COVID-19 pandemic. Two of the vehicles displayed contact details for a helpline which it encouraged residents to access if they needed support or advice during the lockdowns. The other vehicle displayed the contact details for Voluntary Norfolk encouraging residents that are able to help to become volunteers.

The Bin Collection South Norfolk app allows users to search for curbside collection dates by address. Households can set reminders to bring out their bins and receive alerts about collection delays or schedule changes. The mobile app also challenges residents to a waste sorting game featuring common household waste items. South Norfolk and Broadland councils are hoping that the in-house app can boost residential recycling rates to at least 60%.
