Calgary, Edmonton, and Alberta Ecotrust funded the creation of the Emissions-Neutral Buildings Information Exchange (ENBIX). This four-year project creates a central clearinghouse for low-carbon building practices shared by developers and builders across Alberta. Stakeholders in Calgary will implement ENBIX innovations through its Community of Practice. Additional ENBIX features include webinars, market research, and site visits.

Calgary's Fair Entry program uses a single application for services to low-income households like transit passes and senior home maintenance. A partnership with Rogers adds the company's Connected for Success initiative to Fair Entry options. Fair Entry recipients won't need to cover monthly costs or fill out additional paperwork for applicable 5G mobile, Internet, and television plans. City officials sought a partner to fulfill its Digital Equity Strategy goals of access for all residents.

Calgary, AB supports its push for increased bike use with Ride Ready Stations at transit stops
City transit officials plan bike racks for the fronts of 1,200 bikes and community shuttles. Ride Ready Stations at the Heritage and Saddletowne bus stops teach commuters how to load bikes on these racks. Each station is a small structure painted to look like a bus front with a rack for practice loading and locking. Ride Ready Stations will rotate to other transit stops to make as many people as possible familiar with the racks.

Calgary, AB and local schools envision the future of the city's downtown with a Minecraft challenge
The Level Up, Calgary challenge asked 12,000 public school students to explore a virtual version of the city. Participants were asked to integrate the Downtown Strategy into a Minecraft world and suggest their own improvements. Each student submitted a one-minute video explaining their ideas and how they would enrich city life. Winners in four age groups - K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 - collaborate with city planners on adapting their suggestions for the real world.

Single-family homes and duplexes current on property taxes are eligible for CA 3,000 rebates on installations by approved contractors. The program's first seven months focused on households directly impacted by the storm before expanding to all households in January 2022.

Calgary, AB creates incentive program for projects that convert downtown offices into residences
Calgary approved a $100 million CAD fund in 2021 as commercial space lay dormant during the pandemic. Fully financed projects qualify for grants of $75 CAD per square foot of converted space up to $10 million CAD. The city approved three projects in April 2022 that will add 401 units to the downtown area and eliminate 414,000 square feet of office space. City leaders expand housing stock, reinvigorate downtown activity, and manage commercial space supply with this program.
