Camarillo, CA approves solar-powered microgrids at five buildings in anticipation of future outages
The city council approved solar installations totaling 4 megawatts of capacity for selected facilities. Each microgrid produces 150% of the building's daily needs with excess energy stored in on-site batteries. Microgrids keep buildings powered by zero-emission energy for up to two hours during utility outages. Four of the five buildings also house backup diesel generators. Camarillo's microgrid projects reduce carbon emissions for these buildings by 88%.
