A limited number of subsidized CanTrack Protect devices were offered to rural residents. Each participant affixed the device to a vehicle or piece of farming equipment. Protect devices are activated when vehicles are stolen and tracked by law enforcement personnel. Each device is battery-powered with a homing beacon that is impervious to jamming techniques. The pilot addresses enforcement gaps in rural areas and improves stolen property recovery rates.

The council is working with Girona Energy on a free solar energy program for trial participants in Coleraine. Solar panels and on-site batteries allow households to use affordable, zero-emission electricity without grid access. Qualifying residents have broadband connections for battery monitoring and live near the Loguestown Substation. Project Girona could be expanded elsewhere in the borough and Northern Ireland if it proves feasible.

The LiveSmart app advances the council's 10-point plan for eco-friendly living among residents. This web app features informational tabs for each category including ClimateSmart, PlasticSmart, and ClothingSmart. Each category tab details tips, success stories, and a map of resources to meet council goals. App users can select the LiveSmart Map to combine all 10 maps in a single location. This project was a collaboration between the council's Environmental Resources and GIS teams.

The council offered customized support based on survey responses including assistance with physical distancing compliance, e-commerce, and new revenue sources.
