Central Bedfordshire Council, GB solar energy roads
Central Bedfordshire Council is conducting a trial of a special surface that captures solar energy along roads, pavements and cycleways. During the summer, the captured heat can be used to power streetlights, electronic road signs and nearby buildings. During the winter, the stored heat can be used to prevent icy conditions by warming the road surface.
