The Curitiba Municipal Health Department (SMS) is using drones to conduct health inspections over difficult terrain such as walled vacant lots, tall buildings, and large company facilities. The SMS agents use drones to capture images and identify areas at high-risk for becoming mosquito breeding sites. The drone surveillance helps reinforce City Hall's actions in the fight against mosquitos that transmit serious diseases such as dengue, zyka and chikungunya.

Curitiba, PR installed an improved and more secure LED lighting system on 11 local streets
The Municipality of Curitiba installed a new and improved LED lighting system on 11 local streets. The polymeric poles uses LED technology which consumes 50% less energy, offers more visual comfort, and increases safety for pedestrians at night compared to the previous lights. The Municipal Public Works Department installed the network deeper in the ground and enveloped the piping with concrete to protect against theft and vandalism.

Curitiba, PR launched a service for municipal employees to calculate or request retirement online
The Institute of Social Security for Servers of the Municipality of Curitiba (IPMC) launched a new service allowing municipal employees to request retirement electronically. Any municipal employee currently eligible for retirement can submit an application via the Server Portal without needing an appointment. Users can also calculate their projected future retirement earnings via the Server Portal using the "Retirement Simulator" tool.
