The shire will create a community company for resident-led decisions on local services. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents will co-design future programs addressing areas like affordable housing, employment, and education. Doomadgee's pilot informs the implementation of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap by neighboring communities. This agreement sets 17 priorities for achieving equity for all Australians including shared data and decision-making.
