Dorset Council, GB Low Carbon Dorset Village Hall
Dorset's three-year emission reduction program started with a £10,000 grant for a new village hall in Charlton Marshall. Council officials selected this project because the hall replaced an inefficient 85-year old building. The grant paid for LED lighting and solar panels that power an air-source heat pump. The new building cuts carbon emissions by 5 tons per year with a 30% reduction in carbon footprint.
