Drayton Valley, AB prepares local workers for high-demand jobs with its Zero Fee Tuition Initiative
The Zero Fee Tuition Initiative covers up to CAD 5,000 in tuition costs per eligible resident. Recipients can earn credentials at five participating institutions including a professional hairstyling course and a health care aide program. Drayton Valley designed the initiative for recent high school graduates and career-changing professionals. University of Alberta researchers are conducting a two-year study of the impacts of this first-in-Canada program on Drayton Valley's economy.

Drayton Valley, AB partners with TELUS to gain planning and safety insights from security cameras
Cameras were installed at five intersections to monitor traffic light patterns and congestion. Town officials and TELUS also added cameras to five public places including the Skate Park and Recycling Depot. Data from this pilot assist with day-to-day tasks like traffic light adjustments and vandalism deterrence. Drayton Valley will use data carried on a TELUS PureFibre network to guide new developments and future town plans.
