Drummondville, QC conducts smart bin tracking in residential areas for optimal collection schedule

Drummondville, QC Smart Bin Tracking Optimal Collection

Complete

The pilot created two cohorts of 700 households each to track waste collections over successive summers. One group received weekly collections and incentives for reducing produced waste. The second group had their bins collected every three weeks. Each household's waste bins featured sensors that tracked rollout timing and fill levels. Drummondville designed the pilot to determine if the default schedule of every three weeks was preferable to weekly collections.
