Eagan, MN is removing trash cans from 13 local neighborhood parks on a trial basis to save money
The City of Eagan is planning to implement a "Pack-In, Pack-Out" policy at 13 smaller neighborhood parks on a trial basis. During the trial, garbage cans will be removed from the parks and visitors will be asked to take their trash away themselves. The trial was designed to reduce waste and save $250,00 in response to a new county ordinance requiring recycling bins to be installed within 10 feet of every trash can.

Eagan, MN is implementing Body Worn Cameras for all its entire police force to improve transparency
By December of 2020, the City of Eagan is hopeful to have completely implemented Portable Audio Video Recorders (PAVR), also known as Body Worn Cameras, into their police force. In June 2019, the city, in conjunction with the police department, went forward with beginning the process in an effort to be more transparent with the public. The goal is that the addition of body camera services will build more trust in the community between law enforcement and residents.

The City of Eagan is planning to construct an affordable three-story, 24-unit apartment complex aimed at giving first preference to veterans over the age of 55. This senior housing project will include all one-bedroom units for its occupants. With fewer residents expected to own vehicles in the senior veterans' community, the complex is located near a transit station to still provide for their residents' transportation needs.
