East Lindsey District Council, GB lowers household energy costs with Green Homes pilot
The pilot provides grants to 300 eligible households in Mablethorpe and Skegness. Households must have E, F, or G Energy Performance Ratings and annual income of less than £30,000 to qualify for grants up to £10,000. Council officials also offer a path for landlords to qualify for £5,000 if they fund at least one-third of proposed upgrades. Green Homes funds are used for energy-saving improvements including insulation, window upgrades, and smart thermometers.

East Lindsey District Council, GB brings new orchards to the community with Bearing Fruit initiative
Bearing Fruit turns unused green space into orchards with fruit-bearing trees. Ten sites were identified for the program including three Platform Housing communities. Each orchard features up to 20 trees, providing community benefits without a large footprint. District officials will engage and train volunteers to maintain orchards by late 2021. Community orchards align with council goals including biodiversity, tree cover, and access to healthy food.

East Lindsey District Council, GB improves shop experiences with Healthy You, Health Businesses
The council works with business specialists at The Rural Retailer to help shops in Alford and Spilsby. Participating stores receive walk-throughs from their assigned specialists that determine strengths and areas in need of improvement. Recommendations on store layout, staff training, and other features help stores better serve their customers after the COVID-19 lockdown. The initial pilot assists six shops in each town with potential expansion into neighboring communities.
