Gary, IN accelerates redevelopment of Aetna neighborhood with Rehab One, Get Two Free pilot
Licensed contractors apply for the program to the city's Redevelopment Commission. The first lot must be built or renovated within nine months of acceptance. Each property must include features like rear decks, garages, and yard fencing to attract buyers. Successful participants select two free as-is tracts for redevelopment from 7,000 available lots dotting the neighborhood. The commission introduced the pilot to boost non-contiguous lot values that are difficult to sell.
