Gore District Council, NZ pilots "traffic light" leak system

In Progress

Gore District Council is piloting a new "traffic light" system for identifying and prioritizing water leaks. The Council uses listening equipment to identify underground leaks and marks the location to inform the public of the leak's priority status. Council staff place an orange cone next to an inspected leak then paint a blue mark for low priority leaks or a red mark for medium priority leaks. Any leak identified as high priority is fixed as quickly as possible therefore it is not marked.
