Groningen, GR is creating a digital 3D city model to improve future spatial projects
The municipality of Groningen's City Engineers, City Design, and Geo & Data departments are collaborating on the development of a digital 3D model of the city. The city is working with 3D specialists Future Insight and Avineon to create a state-of-the-art digital twin to ensure that spatial projects can be carried out faster, more cost effectively, and more transparently. The data will be stored in an open 3D CityGML database and the layers will be published into open 3D Tiles services.

The Municipality of Groningen partnered with Energiecoöperatie Grunneger Power to launch the Energy Desk purchasing campaign. The campaign was designed to encourage homeowners to collectively purchase energy-saving installations. The municipality selected participating companies based on the best price-quality ratio and bundled registrations to reduce the costs for everyone. Since the campaign's launch, over 800 homeowners have requested quotes for insulation, solar panels, heat pumps, etc.

The Municipality of Groningen invited local entrepreneurs to offer accessibility products to residents. Groningen launched this unique tender in partnership with the municipalities of Midden Groningen and North Midden Drenthe to support residents in the areas of housing, transport, and mobility. The municipalities are looking to improve accessibility service by purchasing mobility scooters, adapted cars, wheelchairs, safety rails, special pillows, etc.

The Municipality of Groningen partnered with GeneratieThuis and the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer to launch the SlimoTheek smart store. At SlimoTheek senior citizens, informal carers, and welfare professionals can borrow smart technology for free. A network of volunteers at SlimoTheek are available to answer questions and offer assistance with installation for robot vacuum cleaners, calendar clocks, smart doorbells, remote controls, tablets, etc.
