Halton Borough Council, GB converts brownfield into solar farm that powers nearby stadium

Halton Borough Council, GB Solar Farm Stadium Power

Complete

The 3,000-panel farm has a capacity of one megawatt and produces 850 megawatt-hours per year. Project leaders connected the farm and DCBL Stadium to reduce the facility's emissions and electricity costs. Solar energy is split between stadium operations and sales to energy suppliers for grid use. Borough officials estimate an annual carbon savings of 120 tons along with energy savings of £50,000. A proposed farm expansion could power a planned leisure center.
