Hartlepool will add VT Brakesafe and VT Ident products to its fleet of 52 transport and heavy goods vehicles. VT Brakesafe automatically applies the vehicle's parking brake if the driver opens the cabin door without fully parking. Drivers swipe RFID tags or wristbands on VT Ident interfaces for confirmation of authorized operator access to council vehicles. Borough leaders approved these investments in response to rollaway incidents elsewhere in the United Kingdom.
