The Hertfordshire Energy Advice Tool (HEAT) developed by Energy Saving Trust provides a virtual tour of a typical home. App users are asked questions about energy usage in each room. HEAT suggests free or low-cost upgrades that can lower energy costs. A customized action plan is emailed to each user at the end of the HEAT tour. Council officials estimate annual savings of £70 for the average user who follows the app's suggestions.
