Kalamunda, WA Local Partnerships Community Resiliency
Kalamunda worked with first responders and bushfire brigades to teach residents about year-round emergency preparedness. The city created two mixed-media videos about how pet owners can protect their household and large animals during natural disasters. An SMS registry allows residents to opt into text messages regarding bushfires and other emergencies. This resiliency campaign also produced an online report form for potential bushfire hazards.
Project Succeeded
Kalamunda received the 2021 Metro Innovative Partnerships Award during the Local Government Professionals Community Development Conference. The council was also Highly Commended in the Local Government Award category at the 22nd Resilient Australia WA Awards.
