Karlskrona, SE Digital First pilot supports independent living for seniors with smart devices
Digitalt först - Digital First - serves 20 seniors living in their own homes through March 2023. Karlskrona worked with Alleato and Sensorem on building an inventory of smart devices for the project. Selected seniors and their relatives ease concerns about independent living with smartwatches, motion-activated lights, and alarms triggered by long periods of inactivity. Assigned relatives receive real-time phone notifications for quick responses to health issues.

Karlskrona, SE partners with MoveAbout on electric vehicle pool for residents and city workers
Karlskrona started the electric vehicle program to decrease transportation costs and emissions. The pool started with six plug-in vehicles and 12 e-bikes at two locations on Östra Hamngatan. Drivers sign up for free MoveAbout memberships and use the app to access vehicles. Hourly, daily, and weekly prices provide flexibility for short errands or long commutes. Each location uses a combination of wind and solar energy to recharge vehicles.

Karlskrona, SE generates digital twin to show the city's present and future in three dimensions
Planning, permitting, and GIS teams used flight imagery along with building plans for an initial map layer. Additional data from drones, IoT devices, and departmental input led to a final version of the digital twin. Internal use of the realistic model includes recreational facility planning and visualization of underground wires and pipes by the water department. Karlskrona sends residents into the digital twin during AR and VR engagement events.
